I'm glad to contribute to this blog, but I don't know how to take a job done well here. What should I write? If everything can be ok, I'll let my glass of English drop here ;p
Mike said he hated the word "alone", and someone around him often used that one. I don't know how Chinese use this word, but in Vietnamese, "alone" means "cô đơn", but sometimes it means "độc thân". "Độc thân" and "cô đơn" have the similar meaning, but "cô đơn" is used to explain the feeling, and hence, it is a sad word. "Độc thân" is often used to explain single state. I'm yet to get married, so I'm "độc thân"."Cô đơn" is a scaried word, but "độc thân" is not. I'm getting round to enjoy my single life :D

Alone normally translate to "cô đơn." Single normally translate to "độc thân." Mike

ReplyDeleteThat's right, but in Vietnamese, sometimes words are used in the changed meaning. For example, if you ask me "Em có bạn trai chưa", I may answer: "Em vẫn cô đơn" ^_^
