English Pronunciation IPA

Friends

The pronunciation of English words may be the hardest part. Words are spelled alike, use the same group of letters, and yet, they do not have any similarity in sound.

This is where, you as a foreign learner of English should take time out to learn the International Phonetic Alphabet. It will pay off tremendously in the long run.

Ironically, English is my native language so, I do not see much use for this IPA in my own studies. I will familiarize myself with it anyway. This is because it will help me, help you. The people who wish to learn English and have me at their employ.

Its nice to treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. If someone, with the ability to teach me Vietnamese and or Chinese had a secret weapon to help me. It would be nice, to have it available to me.

Here is your gift, your secret weapon, use it well.

Mưa

Houston mưa nhiêủ ghê. Hmm.. I found it annoying when I must getting up for classes at 8 o'clock in thisthe morning, so lazy đó mà (=.=') .. If I were still in Vietnam, I would keep the my habit on rainy days like.. eating poiled boiled corn, scroll myself on get a cozy blanket and read cartoon comics in my bed. Hmm .. nhưng anyway .. I went to school .. (how nice huh ? ^__^)
and .. is there any difference between Houston's rain and Vietnam's rain ? rarely do I go outside, so feeling rain inside the house is somehow weird. Let's hear listen to a song together, it's one of my favorite songs in through YIMURA's albums about rain.

Ngày 17 tháng nay sẽ in lên Win 101.

Only 2

Friends

There were suppose to be 4 of us contributing to this blog about our language learning experiences. I guess, only two were serious about blogging about it and only one has blogged so far.

Back to the main idea, let me share with you my journey since the last post. I read the beginning of Journey to the West; the Vietnamese version. Only a few pages. I translated a poem written by my grandfather into English. Maybe, I will post it on this blog in the near future. Keep checking back. I even went as far as writing another poem in Vietnamese. If you have been a long-time follower of me then you would know I have done this before. That is, writing poems in the three languages I wield: English, Vietnamese, Chinese. In order of fluency.

I have mixed reviews. See some of my poems for yourself at Win 101.

Let me finish, only two more sentences. I played with flashcards that has all 3 languages on them. Then scanned through some new reading material I obtained. Maybe I will share with you my secret readings. I wrote more than two more sentences, maybe, others who wish to contribute to this blog can contact me and we'll have more than two contributors.

Journey to the West : Tây Du Ký

Its ironic indeed. I'll show you the irony in a minute.

I have been trying to improve my reading and writing skills in Vietnamese. I looked around for something that would catch my interest. I thought the old Chinese classic Journey to the West would be a good start. Tây Du Ký is the novel's name in Vietnamese.

Here is the irony, in the story the Monkey King protects his entourage in their journey westward. In my story, I share with you my desire to journey eastward.

I just started to read this novel, what are you reading to help learn a new language? The arrow and ocean is right now.

Voyage

My Friends,

This is the first post. This tool will document the voyage of language learning. From looking across oceans, we will cross oceans. From aiming the arrow, we will shoot it firmly on our target.

We'll post about specific things. Then, totally random things. Our goal is specific our task large. Stick around or visit often.
